Last week Gogobot contacted me to let me know that I was chosen as one of two winners of the “Best of Spring Break” travel writing contest.  I won a $500 gift certificate to a Four Seasons hotel anywhere in the world.

I wrote this article sitting on a couch at the Happy Trails cafe in Nederland, enjoying the brisk fall weather and drinking my Third Street chai tea latte.  Check it out.

This was written a few weeks ago but it took me a little while to get it published.  It’s a travel log of the trip Carrie and I took out to Utah early this month.

I wrote this as something of a top ten for apps related to travel.

Ottoman graves outside the mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent.  The head pieces represent the rank of the person buried.  Notice that the graves are written in Arabic script.  Turkish did not adopt the Latin Alphabet until the reforms of Ataturk during the 1930’s.
